The High Druid’s Blade is the first book in Terry Brooks newest series: Defenders of Shannara. Paxon Leah’s sister is abducted by a dark wizard in a twisted plot to obtain the infamous magic imbued Sword of Leah and to bring down the newest Druid order. As any loving brother would, Paxon immediately sets out to get her back. Along the way, he receives help from the Druids, and ultimately begins training to become a Druid protector.
Often times, Brooks likes to leave you hanging at the end of a book; dying to know what happens next! However, this book has a fulfilling end; immediate dangers are put to rest. Although, there is no doubt that Paxon’s mission is far from over (small spoiler) since the antagonist gets away, for now, but that just leaves the story open for further adventures!
If you have never read Terry Brooks before, then I highly recommend that you do. I thoroughly enjoyed all of his writing, but I am especially drawn to his Shannara series, and earnestly suggest that all fantasy lovers read them as well.
